CBS is about as bad as ESPN

Thanks to the Anti Sychophants for this picture. In case it's hard to read some genius decided to write "Now this is a party. San Antonio can expect four No. 1 seeds for the Final Four, as Kansas ends Davidson's feel-good nonsense with a convincing 59-57 victory."

I'm still a bit convinced that Davidson's "feel-good nonsense" would still be going on had McKillop actually decided to coach his team on that final possession. I understand the philosophy of getting the ball in Curry's hands when you can but Richards is a fantastic point guard and most of Curry's damage comes from moving around screens without the ball. For some reason McKillop put their two best players in different than usual positions. Bah, I'm just frustrated but thanks to Davidson for allowing us to enjoy the run. My interest in the Final Four just plummeted to the point that I'm not sure I'll watch Saturday.

That is shameful--what do they expect Davidson to do other than to feel good about making it to the elite eight?

I can just see the headlines now if a few possessions went the other way...

"Indifferent Davidson Squeaks By Kansas To Make First Final Four In Over Sixty Years"

And in the subheadline:

"North Carolina Expected to Win By Thirty--Hansbrough Named MVP of Game, Davidson Happy Just To Participate"

I'm with you guys--can't we enjoy the fact that a team as good as Davidson got as far as it did despite being underseeded for their body of work--what happened to rooting FOR the underdog?

It looks like they didn't keep up that headline for long, but it's pretty outrageous that it made it up at all.

Slightly off topic, but here's what I don't understand about the end of the Davidson/Kansas game. I've heard numerous "experts" bemoan the fact that Curry gave up the ball on the final possession. I understand that you want Curry taking the shot if at all possible, but he was double teamed the entire possession and would have had to take a very low-percentage shot. So in the eyes of the "experts", Curry taking a horrible shot is better than him trying to find a teammate for a decent look.

Well, I had a long, smart response typed up and that was eaten up by the Internet. The basic point was that having Curry take the ball up the floor takes away from his strengths of moving without the ball and it's a slap in the face to Richards, who is terrific with the ball in his hands.

If you have Curry take the ball up the floor of course he'll get doubled and of course he's not going to find a good look. Curry was put in an impossible situation.
