Daily College Basketball Scores Recap - November 30

Oklahoma State 77 – Siena 68

Although I would suggest this will end up being a nice win for Oklahoma State at the end of the year, it likely sticks a fork in any at large hopes Siena had. What a horribly disappointing trip to Orlando for the Saints.

Michigan State 65 – Wichita State 57

The overall 4-1 record does not look that bad, but Michigan State should be a bit concerned by their start. Outside of the performance against Oklahoma State, they are not off to a very impressive beginning of the year.

UMKC 65 – Florida 86

Kudos to the Kangeroos for hanging in there in the first half. UMKC has played some decent basketball this year.

Rice 56 – Texas 77

Rice hung in there for a half before Texas pulled away in the second half.

Charlotte 84 – CSU Fullerton 92

Charlotte is off to a horrifying 1-6 start and they could not handle Josh Akognon and company, who are not off to a blistering start themselves.

Western Kentucky 68 – Louisville 54

This may be the upset of the early season. I did not expect much out of Western Kentucky this year and they have some non-impressive losses to Houston and Murray State. Still, despite those losses this is potentially a huge win for them and they have enough out of conference opportunities left this year (mostly Georgia and Florida State) to still get back in the at large discussion.

Cornell 57 – Indiana 72

This is a pretty nice win for Tom Crean’s young squad. It is good to hear freshman Verdell Jones is OK after being carried out on a stretcher after running into a good, clean pick.

Northern Arizona 57 – Arizona 74

A good second half saved too much embarrassment, but Arizona should not be tied at home at halftime against Northern Arizona.

UCSB 59 – Illinois State 87

Illinois State is the Valley’s best shot at an at large bid at this point. The problem is they have no potential for a good out of conference win and they will not be having many opportunities in conference play either.

Maryland 48 – Georgetown 75

This was really a beatdown. What a confusing trip to Orlando for Maryland. They play three top 25 teams and all three games are slaughters, but they somehow beat the highest ranked team.

Providence 75 – St. Mary’s 81

It was nice for St. Mary’s to get a decent win even if it was unfortunate that they let Providence make a game of it after a dominating first half.

Gonzaga 83 – Tennessee 74

What a wonderful trip to Orlando for Gonzaga. With nightmarish out of conference schedule Gonzaga put together and the improved West Coast Conference, the ceiling for Gonzaga might be a one seed. If they get it it would be very well deserved.

Arizona State 88 – UTEP 58

UTEP is not a bad team but James Harden just killed them.

New Mexico 62 – Drake 68

At the beginning of the year I might have thought this could be a huge game we could look back to in March with bubble implications. That is not looking too likely anymore.

Baylor 74 – Wake Forest 87

Nice second half for Wake Forest as they owned Baylor on the glass in a game with a 81 free throws attempted. Wake was able to keep LaceDarius Dunn and Curtis Jerrells to a combined 5-22 shooting.

VCU 66 – Vanderbilt 71

After watching my Bears get killed by the Vikings (seriously, what is with their fascination with handoffs to the fullback?) I was pretty disappointed to see that Vanderbilt had a commanding 13-point halftime lead. The second half was very entertaining, however, as Eric Maynor scored the majority of his 31 points. Vanderbilt won this game at the foul line, the three point line, and inside with A.J. Ogilvy.
